step 3: the dog lies down with the leash on

We changed something about the behavior (added the leash), so Dale is re-teaching the Down behavior.

This becomes a good example of HOW TO ADD THE CUE.

First, he Lures Lily into a Down.

Then Lily begins to volunteer the down. She has figured out what it is Dale is paying for.

As she dependably offers the behavior, Dale adds the cue.

(WHILE she is already committed to the behavior he adds the cue, then C/T when she is in the position)

Finally, Dale USES the cue and asks for the behavior. Lily responds.
